Project No. 1 — Earthstone Glacier

This residential installation took place in a townhouse in Chatham, Kent, where limited outdoor space meant there was no suitable area for on-site cutting. Getting the template right was therefore essential to ensure a precise fit first time.

The installer used a traditional templating method, relying on 760×1020 770M/550G templating card to achieve accurate measurements before fabrication. The project used jumbo Earthstone Glacier slabs (3200mm x 1600mm), which kept joins to a minimum — just two small, discreet seams either side of the new inset sink.

A two-man team completed the installation in a single day, including upstands and a full-height splashback behind the hob. The homeowner chose a Blanco Sona 6S SILGRANIT® sink in Volcano Grey with a matching LINUS-S tap, finishing the job with a clean, contemporary look.

The Advantages of Jumbo Slabs

Using jumbo slabs (3200mm x 1600mm) offers fabricators and installers several key benefits on residential projects. The additional surface area allows you to maximise each sheet, reduce waste, and minimise joins, helping deliver a cleaner, more efficient installation. Fewer joins also mean less labour, lower maintenance, and a more seamless finish for the customer, ideal for today’s larger kitchen layouts. Beyond efficiency, jumbo slabs provide a premium, uninterrupted look that enhances the overall finish and increases the perceived value of the job, allowing trades to offer cost-effective yet high-end results.
